As a kid, I have always wanted to go to one of these Cosplayers conventions, but as I always had this terrible habit of not going after what I want, until today, I had never even come close to one of these, until the Universe gave me the chance to go to Wondercon, a smaller version of Comic-Con San Diego, and organized by the same team.
And guys, that was awesome!
You just feel inside a whole different world. It’s amazing the amount of pop culture you are bombarded with: Videogames, Animes, Comics, TV, Film, we can find it all.
People usually think that these kind of places are only for Nerds and Geeks (by the way, I love them!). But the truth is that if you enjoy anything in the entertainment industry you will love these conventions. In two days I saw the showrunners for Jessica Jones, SuperGirl (bothe woman by the way <3) The Walking Dead and Lost. I was on a panel with the actors of The 100 and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, I heard the guys behind the VFX for SW: Force Awakens, Firefly’s screenwriter, the team behind the Nerdist, besides going to two smaller panels about women in the industry and web-series.
Of course, we can’t forget the cosplays. Walking from one panel to another and finding the characters from your favorite movies and childhood games is so fun. The cosplayers really put a lot of effort in the fantasies, because some are simply perfect. On Saturday nights there is always a cosplay contest, that is super cool, because in addition to the fantasy, each contestant presents a dance number or a little scene.
I couldn’t take pictures of the contest, but I have some photos from the characters I found during the event, and from some of the panels I went.
Seriously, it’s an awesome experience and it is so worth it. I loved it and now I can only think of selling my soul, doing some macabre pact, or simply asking constantly to the Universe to get into Comic-Con in July. Who knows right?
