Two hamburgers, lettuce, cheese and special sauce. You might know this recipe from another fast food chain, but for me this is synonym of: In-N-Out. From the things I miss the most in California, Double Double for sure makes the list.
So my love story with In-N-Out started in 2013, when Adele was still chubby and winning an Oscar. To celebrate her victory, the singer went to In-N-Out and it became news. I was already with a ticket bought to LA and put the restaurant on my “to do” list.
But fate brought us together without effort, and there was an In-N-Out right in my neighborhood, in Westwood. <3
The menu is super simple: hamburger, cheeseburger or Double Double. Side note: Now I live in Toronto and here Double Double is how they call the coffee at Tim Hortons. My heart beats faster everytime I hear it haha.
The cool thing about the south californian chain is that they a have a secret menu – which is not secret at all, because everybody knows about it. The best choice in my opinion is the animal style fries: fries topped with sauce, grilled onions and cheese. Good stuff!
There are websites dedicated to the secret menu and so many options I have never tried, but for sure delicious. The official secret menu is here.
But my love for this restaurant also resides in the memories I made inside it. Because it was so close to my house, any time was In-N-Out time: with friends, alone, after party, to discuss relationship. Yes, my ex also loved Double Double – except when he was trying to be healthy.
Oh! The price. It’s about the price of Mc Donalds but with more quality and cheaper than Five Guys or Shake Shack. And there is also the charming 50’s diner decoration.
So that is it. If you are not conviced about how good In-N-Out is, I don’t think you two are meant to be together. But if I were you, I would give Double Double a try 😉
